Yeah, so that happened.
Amid all the hoopla regarding the cancellation of 3 of the 4 previously announced “season 2” FFXV DLC the other day, the above is largely where my feelings stand. I didn’t care about the new DLC’s much, or Tabata, but I was interested in that level editor and more modding tools and seeing what others (and maybe myself) could do with such. Doubtful we’ll get them now. Oh well, shit happens. Not like I (personally) haven’t gotten good mileage from this game, and I’ll continue to play/goof around with it regardless.
There’s also still the tiny, tiny hope they could still release a tool “as is,” even if it’s not as complete/finished as they were intending. But I won’t hold my breath.
I’m still in a state of disbelief, to be honest. I wasn’t expecting these events to happen at all, and I really was looking forward to getting the Complete Edition eventually.
I do think it’s too early to throw in the towel just yet. The way I see it is that SE will try to go for one more ‘push’, one more event that will help sell off as many copies of FFXV as possible. I don’t know what that will be, maybe an in-game event (doubtful) or a possible ‘complete’ edition (Base + Royal + Ardyn DLC). My money’s on the latter. And in the event of the Windows edition, maybe they’ll throw in that level editor as well.
Man, just when I was thinking to myself how much potential FFXV still had going for it and had some hopes for the upcoming Episodes, this happened. I guess the game was cursed from the start – or was it cursed by Nomura because he was never allowed to finish it?
The plot thickens. Dun dun dun.
