Just, y’know, more cutout practice, nothing special. The Noctis one, the hair had dark blue bleeding so it’s probably the worst hair-wise. Prompto’s hair is actually the easiest to deal with overall, just that top fringe area can be irritating.
Gladio’s pic, yes there’s a piece of him missing, I didn’t notice the greenscreen depth was too close, overlapping/cutting something off. Just pretend he had an accident and is looking out the window of his new house after forced retirement.
I did not create any of the backgrounds – since my artistic skill is about zero – random net finds from wallpaper sites. Photography editing (for me) = working with lighting, color, certain types of corrections, simple layering and selection editing sometimes and that’s it. While I can pen-doodle while talking on the phone, and use/manipulate standard image editor “filters” and such, I can’t paint, draw, 3d anything and my abilities with a digital “paintbrush” using a mouse consists of line drawings that look like they were drawn with crayons by a 4 year old during happy-art time. After all this practice in terms of finding what “greenscreen” background colors work best for the black-ish and brown/blondish hair, I now need to turn on the game again and take a lot more pictures to work with. Maybe I’ll get some actual ideas in the process. Or I might drift into some other busy work time-waster instead. Like a 150 episode anime. I’m distractable like that.
Btw, my working .psd files for only the cutouts themselves end up around 30-70+MB, because they’re usually about 3500-4000 pixels tall (screenshot size I use/take is 7680×4320). I’m not uploading a bunch of those. >.> Even the .png versions end up around 5+MB. If I ever get a set of good ones I’ll probably resize them a bit smaller and make them a zip file download.
Looks good. I like Noctis the most, then again I like anything with wolves in them.
I also have a few ideas for Ignis wallpapers. Here’s one:
Make it a change of pace instead of cooking during camps, how about some homemade BBQ instead?
Or something like this:
But instead of all the Japanese food, you can replace them with actual in-game recipes and put Ignis right in the middle of them, to show that he’s either mastered them all or is really, really confused over what to make for dinner.
Or you know what? How about adding photos of the in-game recipes in general? They go away too fast for me to savor their appearance. Make a new tag for them, #yumyums
And hey, I found the perfect wallpaper for Prompto!
He’ll fit right in!! (◣∀◢)ψ
I even went and made the headstone for you ʕ￫ᴥ￩ʔ
I know you said you didn’t make any of these backgrounds, but have you thought about doing one where Cindy is lying on the hood of a car with bedroom eyes looking straight at the camera? You have experience with lights, so can you put some light sweat on her body as well? Not too much to make it look like she’s icky with sweaty armpits, but enough to make her body ‘glisten’ as if she has just finished from a quick workout. Maybe a little ‘spray’ around her belly area with a little drizzle on her face?
Hm I guess img tagged images count as “too many links, approval required.” Heh. I guess I can increase that number a bit.
You and your Prompto hatred. Teehee.
Adding sweat isn’t a light effect, it’s adding a texture effect. It could probably be done with a transparent texture + layering/masking etc. but eh. I don’t tend to creatively *alter* photos after the fact, so not my area of expertise. I’m of the old era where you spend hours to set up a shot and if you miss it, oh well. Minor things like adjust areas that need brightening/contrast/hue or maybe erase someone’s hand or a tree that got in the way etc. Or like with Ignis, clone around his neck to minimize that stupid head/body seam.
And making her look right lying on car would require an initial position that at least resembled that kind of posture in the game. But I don’t think she has any such poses in the game, she is always standing, so none of the lines, shoulders, arms, or hair angles would be right. You can rotate a flat image but it’s always going to look odd stuck onto something that doesn’t match position/angle correctly. What you want is an sketch artist, not an image editor. 😀
I saw the moderated comment, and my first reaction was,”Oh, crap. I overdid it with the grave picture.” and thought up about 4 different ways to apologize. Reminds me of that time when I made a flirtatious passing comment on a girl’s Facebook status and instantly opened the doors to Hell. All you could hear were screams of the damned, useless apologies, darkness, pain and regret.
Turns out it was the amount of pictures instead. That’ll teach me not to jump to conclusions.
Actually, I always jump to conclusions. It’s part of my nature. Oh, man. You have no idea how much of it is a part of my nature. Every time something happens, I’m like “Oh no, what did I do this time?”
– The boss calls me to his office. “Oh, no. What did I forget to do?!”
– Get a call from my parents. “Oh, no. What do they want me to do?”
– Receive a message from the boss on my holiday, “Oh, no. He wants me to work overtime.”
You get the idea. I’m mostly a glass half empty kind of guy, so jumping to the worst conclusions possible is basically what I do. Still, glad to know that it had nothing to do with the grave picture, so after all that babbling, let’s move on.
And about Cindy, to put it in layman RPG terms, I basically asked the wrong profession didn’t I? (-｡-;
