Courel’s again
It’s so hard to get good ones of them doing their raised-whisker thing because you have to zoom out so far to get it all in a picture.
…personal note: I’ve been preoccupied with anime/TV (and naps, lots of naps). Plus, out of sheer boredom, I took my very first stabs at trying visual novels, since Steam has quite a few that are free – not sure what I think about them as an entertainment genre yet, a couple were ok/kind of interesting, a couple were boring/terrible. I remember those “pick a choice/path” multiple-ending text novels way back when. They were ok as a kid but as an adult, even digital versions with static graphic backdrops and sound effects/voice-overs are rather meh…I doubt I’d have any interest in paying more than $5 for one, I’d rather simply read a paper novel and use my imagination for visuals, I think. Anyway, point is I may post less frequently for a while, is all. 🙂
I’m half and half on courels. On one side, they’re just a bunch of cats that I wanna pet and scratch and hear them purr. On the other side, I freaking hate their OHKs. Even moreso when you can’t tell your party members to back off. But as long as my team mates stay alive, I know it’s going to be an epic battle.
On the subject of visual novels, I don’t have a lot of experience with those, but I have played a few that just stuck with me for some reason. Out of these, Katawa Shoujo really left an impact and seemed to have been very well-done. It’s completely free to download on their website but it contains adult scenes if you’re not into that. One of the reasons I played it was because of the adult scenes (Who here hasn’t thought of doing it with a blind girl? Eh?? Eh??), but I really wasn’t expecting to be captivated by the story.
It’s not something I specifically search out, but I don’t mind (can be fun, or at least amusing) adult scenes/scenarios included, as long as they’re attached to story/relationship development (vs. simply soft/hard porn with zero story etc). On Steam, the free “Cinderella Phenomenon” is one I ended up liking a fair bit because it was like a dark/fractured Grimm fairy tale (some “bad” endings were even tragically moving) and each pick-your-Prince route was quite different story/event wise, instead of almost copy-pasted and only changing the person put in the panels. Pffft.
“Lake of Voices” (free) was interesting, I liked the art style, and the influence paths not as obvious or quite as easy to get the one you want. More of a short horror tale than anything else, but you can influence party members and get some different scenes/endings. Bad endings were very dark. Which was awesome.
“Lost in Secular Love” ($10) wasn’t bad either. It looks like a corny/typical romance thing but it ends up fairly dark/moody in many routes (the female protagonist is not very likeable for a long time, too), plus the not-modern setting was nice – I liked the “bad” endings for that one as well, a couple really left an impact. I guess I like twisted/tragic or at least emotional endings. lol
