Off topic: the new PC rig

All the main parts are here and we’re starting to put it together. But may not get it finished in one evening. I may still need to purchase an internal soundcard because onboard sound is something I usually can’t stand no matter how much they “improve” it. I wasn’t feeling too “excited” until now, but I’m starting to feel it. As long as nothing is defective I should be a happy camper by the weekend, once the irritation of having to install tons of software is over.

The EVGA 2080ti FTW3 Ultra … thing must weight six pounds and it’s ginormous in length, height, depth. Makes my old 980ti look positively tiny. Crazy. I haven’t built a whole new rig in maybe 9-10 years, so there have been all kinds of little things I’ve had to buy on top of the pc parts themselves, including a display port KVM switch that supports 4k/60 display. Good times! … for Amazon, at least. 😛

FFXIV collab start

That’s one giant chocobo chick.

I have not finished either the Terra Wars or this FFXIV collaboration quest. I don’t have any connection to either of those games so not very interested/get bored I suppose. It’s not like I need yet more overpowered item/s, either. I’m also not in love with the color palettes both use – yes I’m that picky! I’m going to try to finish at least one before Ep. Ardyn releases. 😛

Revisiting: Ansel “Sticker” feature

Hmm, this might have some kind of pic potential now. If only I wasn’t 99.9% super-lazy.

I’ve learned the “stickers” feature of Ansel, that they added a while back, can be altered with personalized stickers of your choice.  You just have to make a transparent image of the same dimensions and stick it in the Program Files/Nvidia folder that contains them.  Sadly you can’t add more to what’s there, you have to overwrite/rename one of the 8 default ones, making switching between a lot of them potentially annoying. But at least if you really want to change them for a specific reason, you can.  The default ones were mostly generically dull and (to me) ignored, so that’s a good thing.

They’ve also added a “greenscreen” feature, so you can insert your own background and make it fill the whole background or just part of it. Like in the above pics and below, the starry sky and chibi chrs. aspect is greenscreen.  As with the Stickers, you can add your own personal backgrounds, but can only overwrite the two that already exist.  Two seems a bit of a small number.  Eight backgrounds stored at once, like the Stickers, would’ve been nice.

Neither features is all that useful most of the time really, and I still find it all rather unnecessary.  You could also simply create similar images by manually editing a screenshot/creating them in an image editor instead of dealing with it this way.  But I suppose if one had a creative idea (unlike me and my lowbrow humor…), or just like this type of thing, it all gives one more options.  And I was really bored this afternoon. 😛

What was I up to/am I really back?

…like I said in another post … maybe. I was originally going to wait until I’d at least decided if I was going to purchase the Ardyn DLC on or near release. No point in maybe burning myself out on the game again if I’m going to buy/play that DLC, I figure. But I’ve been kind of “bored” the past couple of weeks so I keep turning FFXV on for a few minutes here and there to remind myself of things. I already barely remember half the combat controls, haha. I still haven’t updated the game to the latest patch because I don’t want to lose the difficulty cheat table, and because I care nothing about Comrades. (EDIT – ahhh screw it, I’m updating the game now, can’t use Workshop if I don’t sigh)

Games I’ve been playing off and on the past couple months: Diablo3 on PS4 and 7 Days to Die-Alpha17 on PC. Mostly have not been gaming very much however.

Anyway, as much as I like Ansel and this game for screenshots, I’m sure I’ll keep posting some now and then, but it’ll still be unpredictable. 😛

Yeah, so that happened.

Amid all the hoopla regarding the cancellation of 3 of the 4 previously announced “season 2” FFXV DLC the other day, the above is largely where my feelings stand. I didn’t care about the new DLC’s much, or Tabata, but I was interested in that level editor and more modding tools and seeing what others (and maybe myself) could do with such. Doubtful we’ll get them now. Oh well, shit happens. Not like I (personally) haven’t gotten good mileage from this game, and I’ll continue to play/goof around with it regardless.

There’s also still the tiny, tiny hope they could still release a tool “as is,” even if it’s not as complete/finished as they were intending. But I won’t hold my breath.
